Record a belt grading

TEAMS & ATTENDANCE Reading time : 5 min Updated August 22, 2026
When your club holds a belt exam, Paak handles the paperwork: a "Grading" session, a printable exam sheet with your club's own criteria, and — from Paak One — one click that updates every successful candidate's grade and writes each member's history.

Create the exam session

  1. In Sessions, create a new session and pick the "Grading" type (offered for karate, judo and the other martial arts).
  2. Invite the candidates like any other session: the attendance list becomes the candidate list.
  3. Open the session on exam day: the "Grading" button leads to the exam screen.

The exam sheet

  • Ready-to-fill columns — name, member number, target grade, exam number, then the criteria scored by hand during the exam.
  • Your criteria, your scale — replace the suggested criteria (Concentration, Technique, Kata, Kumite, Condition, out of 10) with your club's own, at any maximum score (/10, /20, /100…), and save them as your club template.
  • One-click print — the sheet prints blank, to be filled at the edge of the tatami. This part is available on every plan, including the free one.

Exam mode (live scoring) — Paak One

  • Score on a tablet instead of paper — open exam mode from the grading screen: one mark field per criterion per candidate, totals add up by themselves (half-points accepted).
  • The scale is locked — opening exam mode freezes the criteria for this session: they cannot change mid-exam. The club template stays editable for future gradings.
  • Marks join the history — on save, the per-criterion marks and the total are kept with each grading.
  • Exam mode is included from Paak One, like the automatic belt update — the printable paper sheet stays available on every plan.

Record the results

  1. Each candidate is pre-filled to the next grade after their current belt — you only adjust the exceptions: double promotion, not passed.
  2. Enter the examiner, tick or untick "Passed", add a note if needed.
  3. Click "Save results": every successful candidate's belt updates at once — no opening 25 profiles one by one. This automatic update is included from Paak One.

Grade history

  • Every grading joins the member's record: previous grade, grade obtained, date, examiner, exam number.
  • A candidate who did not pass keeps the trace of the attempt — like a real grade booklet.
  • Already-recorded history stays visible on every plan.
