Hockey changes in seconds, on the fly. Three or four substitutions one by one: nobody keys them in time, and everyone's ice time ends up wrong. In Paak you set your lines up once; during the game, one tap on the line puts it on the ice.

Set up your lines
On the team page, the "Lines" card offers four forward lines, three defence pairs, two goalies, two power play units, two penalty kill units and the extra attacker. A player can be in several lines, and you can add your own units. "Fill from positions" proposes a first set: nothing is saved until you press "Save lines".

Its players come on, the ones they replace go off, in a single tap. "Undo" in the notice, or the tracker's undo, reverses the whole line at once.

- Each line tells you where it stands: "On the ice for 0:42", "Off the ice for 1:15", or "Not played yet".
- The forward line or defence pair that has rested the longest is marked "Next". It is a cue: you decide.
- A player in the penalty box is never taken off or replaced. A player absent tonight is skipped, and the line says so.
- The "extra attacker" unit takes the goalie off first; the goalie coming back replaces the skater who came on last.
- During a penalty the strength allowed on the ice drops: a line that is too big comes on short, and says so.
- The times shown come from the shifts the tracker already keeps for minutes played: nothing is typed in, nothing is invented.
What exists, and what does not yet. The line change is part of the live tracker, so of Paak Pro; setting up lines is possible on every plan. Lines are set up on the web: there is no lines editor on the phone yet. In the Android and iPhone app, the line change arrives with the next version published on the stores, which will read the lines set up on the web.
Paak records what you do on the ice; it does not replace your competition's change procedure (time allowed, no change after icing, the blocks and horn of youth categories), which stays your federation's. And Paak does not rate children: live tracking is not offered for age groups of 12 and under.

Hockey has its own vocabulary: faceoffs, +/-, hits, power plays, graduated penalties. Paak speaks it, from the bench to the player's profile.
Live match journal: periods, penalties, ice time
The coach or team manager starts the tracker from the bench. Each action is one tap: a goal, then up to two assists, a shot, a hit, a blocked shot, a save. The clock restarts at zero every period and you pause it at stoppages. The live match tracker is part of Paak Pro.

Not 30 useless stats: the nine measures that make a hockey player, updated every match and added up per season and career. Goalies get theirs (saves, shots against, save percentage), skaters get theirs (+/-, hits, blocks).

The player rating moves by tenths, and you can read it.
Every player starts the match at 5 out of 10. Each action moves the rating by a small step, shown below; you can also adjust it by 0.5. Nothing hidden: the rating is a coach's reference, and +/- does not enter it.
Four penalties. The penalty box, timed.
Each penalty is recorded live and attributed to the player. For a minor, a major and a misconduct, Paak starts the penalty box clock in playing time: the player's entry is locked, and you confirm his return to the ice once the penalty is served. If the opponent scores while you are short on a minor, Paak asks whether it was on the power play, and releases the first minor.
Penalty minutes (PIM): Paak applies the table of your country's rule book where it has one. A game misconduct is 20 minutes in the IIHF rule book (Rule 23.1, 2026/27 edition), the default; Hockey Canada records 10 (Rule 4.8(a)).

Default formation: 1 goaltender + 2 defencemen (left, right) + 3 forwards (left wing, centre, right wing). A player's position also proposes your lines: "Fill from positions" groups forwards by three, defence by pairs and one goalie per line, in shirt order; you then change anything you like.
Your federation's own ladder, by your club's country.
On a player's profile, the age category is picked from the list of the federation of your club's country. Paak does not invent a ladder, and a league class (Elit, Top, A, AAA...) is a league, not an age: it decides the contact rule, so it is not in the list.

Paak complements your federation's tools. Never replaces them.
Your official competitions stay with your federation: in France the Synerglace Ligue Magnus, Division 1, 2 and 3, Féminin Élite and the Coupes de France (FFHG); in Switzerland the National League, the Swiss League, the MyHockey League and the Women's League (SIHF); internationally the IIHF tournaments. Paak does what they don't.
What your federation does (and continues to do): individual licences and registrations, official competition calendars, official rankings, refereeing, national-team programmes, coach and referee training.
What Paak adds (and your federation doesn't): the day-to-day life of the club between official matches: members and their dues, training attendance, individual statistics match by match, communications by team and by category, call-ups with a reply expected, several teams and seasons under one dashboard. For French clubs: loi du 8 mars 2024 coach checks with expiry alerts.
The FFHG (France) and the SIHF (Switzerland) are in the Paak federation registry, and so are Hockey Canada and its 13 Members. When you validate your club's affiliation, a "Licence" qualification type is created automatically: nothing to reconfigure. Paak is not connected to HockeyNet, MyHockey or the Hockey Canada Registry: registrations stay on the federation's portal.
Background-check compliance isn't optional. Paak makes it manageable.
For French clubs, the 8 March 2024 law makes club presidents personally liable for the honorabilité (background-check) status of staff in contact with minors. In hockey, that covers coaches, team officials, volunteer referees and anyone in regular contact with the club's youth categories, from the école de hockey to U20.

Does Paak replace federation tools (FFHG, SIHF, Hockey Canada)?
No. Paak is complementary to your federation's tools. Registrations, licences and official competitions stay with your federation. Paak manages what federations don't: members, dues, training attendance, individual statistics, communications and, for French clubs, the loi du 8 mars 2024 coach checks.
Can a coach change a whole line in one tap?
Yes. You set up your lines on the team page (forward lines, defence pairs, goalies, power play and penalty kill units, the extra attacker). In the live tracker you tap the line: its players come on, the ones they replace go off, and one undo reverses the whole change. Each line shows how long it has been on the ice or how long it has rested. The live tracker is part of Paak Pro; setting up lines is possible on every plan. Lines are set up on the web: there is no lines editor on the phone yet.
Does the tracker work rink-side during a match?
Yes, in the browser of your phone or tablet, nothing to install. Are hockey penalties handled?
Yes: minor (2 min), major (5 min), misconduct (10 min) and game misconduct. For the first three, Paak starts the penalty box clock in playing time, locks the player's entry and lets you confirm his return to the ice; a running minor or major takes a player off the strength allowed on the ice. Penalty minutes (PIM) follow your country's rule book: a game misconduct is 20 minutes in the IIHF rule book (the default) and 10 in Hockey Canada's.
Which age categories does Paak use?
Your federation's own. A player's profile offers the age ladder of your club's country: FFHG in France, SIHF in Switzerland, Hockey Canada (with the Hockey Québec labels), USA Hockey, the DEB in Germany, the ÖEHV in Austria, England Ice Hockey in Great Britain. Paak does not invent a ladder, and a league class (Elit, Top, A, AAA...) is a league, not an age.
Are there ready-made training sessions?
Yes. On your team's session, choose an age band, a duration (45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes) and a theme out of seven: skating; puck skills and passing; shooting; small-area games and team play; goaltending; contact and checking; off-ice conditioning. Paak builds a minuted session (warm-up, two mains, a small game, a cool-down) from 44 drills that use the skills, the game forms and the steps the federations' published programmes name, cited as such. They are exactly the drills of the Côté Coach ice hockey guide, free to read. Every drill that touches contact names the gate of the federation, the category and the class. Planning, editing and saving the session is free; printing the sheet and club-authored drills beyond 5 are in Paak One.
Does Paak help prevent injuries in ice hockey?
Paak offers no prevention programme for ice hockey, on purpose: no exercise programme has been tested on ice hockey players with an injury outcome (literature review of 14 October 2026). What the research supports is a rule, not an exercise: in Canadian studies, leagues that do not allow body checking at 11 to 12 years old recorded fewer injuries and fewer concussions. Safety rules are your federation's: the age of body checking, mandatory equipment, the concussion protocol.
What's the loi du 8 mars 2024?
A 2024 French law that makes club presidents personally liable for verifying the background-check status (honorabilité) of coaching staff in contact with minors. It applies to French clubs only. Paak tracks each staff member's status and expiry date and warns 30, 14 and 7 days before: an in-app notification on every plan, an email to the staff member and the club's admins from Paak One. The CSV export in the format of the French SI Honorabilité is a Paak One feature.
Is field hockey covered?
Yes, as a sport of its own, separate from ice hockey (different federations: FFH for field, FFHG for ice, in France). A field hockey club gets the whole club side: members, dues, teams, attendance, payments. Paak has no match tracker for field hockey: the one on this page is for ice hockey.
Where does my club data live?
In Europe: hosting at OVHcloud in France, authentication via Hanko (Germany), payments via Mollie (Netherlands), email via Brevo (France). Paak is built for GDPR and sells no data.
Are the other ice sports supported (figure skating, speed skating, bobsleigh)?
They are other sports in Paak, with their own rules: figure skating and ice dance, speed skating (long track and short track), bobsleigh, luge and skeleton. Ice hockey keeps its own.
